 Budget Bride: Introduction

Jered and I were engaged January 01, 2013 and set the date of August 02, 2013. I planned an entire wedding on my own and in less than 6 months (since I didn't start planning for the actual wedding until about March). We had a $3,000 budget and my parents helped by matching whatever we spent with a max of $3,000. In the end, we spent less than $6,000 total.

I was never the girl who planned her ~dream~ wedding. Everything was new territory and I honestly had no idea what you needed to do for a wedding. I have probably only been to five weddings in my life and I never really paid attention to the little details. It wasn't until I was engaged did I start researching. I realized everything was overpriced just because certain items were specifically meant for weddings. A lot of these things I thought, what the heck, I can do this myself!

With summer weddings coming up, I thought I would start writing a "Budget Bride" section on my blog. With Budget Bride, I want to create a guide for other ladies and gents who want to do everything on their own while staying on budget. You can have that beautiful and extravagant wedding without breaking the bank.
